Deakin University, Australia announces six scholarships for meritorious Indian students in 2021

Earlier this year the Deakin University announced a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver under its Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship program 2021.  Six Meritorious Indian students can avail of this scholarship. The scholarship is applicable across all levels and covers the duration of the candidates’ academic tenure with Deakin University.

The University announced six scholarships valuing INR 36 million for Indian students as a part of fostering the relationship between India and Australia. The announced scholarship extends beyond the 30 per cent of bursaries.

The scholarship program is initiated by Deakin University under its ‘Changing Lives’ initiative. The ‘Changing Lives Program’ recognizes students making an impactful contribution through their academics towards the university and their community in their homeland.

Importance of International Education

Professor Iain Martin, President and Vice-Chancellor, Deakin University pressed on the importance of international education emphasizing the vital impact that overseas education has on the global economy. International education opens up opportunities for students to develop holistically.

Indian students can apply for the scholarship during the intakes of July and November. The process of applying for The Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s Meritorious Scholarship Program can be tedious. The process involves application review, interviews and presentation, recommendations, and panel interviews with representatives from academics and the industry.

Deakin University extends more merit-based scholarships and bursaries to Indian students. Indian students now have the access to 25 per cent Merit Scholarships and 20 per cent Bursaries for studies in Australia.
